Family Promise Homeless Ministry

About This Mission:

Family Promise started as a local response to a problem in Union County, New Jersey, and thirty years later, they are a national movement involving more than 200,000 volunteers. 2020 saw more than 177,000 people served struggling with homelessness. Local churches partner with Family Promise to help serve these neighbors physically as well as spiritually. It’s a truly community-based response to help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence, together.

Three to four times a year, Crestview transforms our Education Wing into a comfortable atmosphere for families in the Family Promise of BC program, providing lodging to children and families who are homeless. They stay a full week, arriving each evening in time for supper, activities and hospitality provided by volunteers. Each family has their own room. Before leaving Crestview each morning for work, school or the FP Day Center, breakfast is provided. Many volunteers are needed to ensure our guests feel welcome!

HOST WEEK is August 28 – September 4!

Crestview and friends will be hosting families IN A MOTEL in Fairfield, rather than at church. This is a temporary change made by Family Promise Butler County to accommodate some unforeseen circumstances. They will be back to a church rotational model after Crestview’s week.

We will be supporting these precious families through groceries, hot meals, prayers and special Labor Day family activity baskets.

How can you help?

-Cook a hot meal for each family (currently 2 families, may change)
-Deliver hot meals and a prayer to each family
-Purchase fun outdoor activities for Family Labor Day basket(bubbles, sidewalk chalk, nerf balls, etc.)
-Make a donation of CASH or CHECK to Crestview Church (write Family Promise in notes) and drop off at church office – look for the Family Promise mailbox (please write Family Promise on envelope) by August 25th.

*Sign up to help! Email Lauren Umbaugh or the church office asap at cpcinfo@crestviewchurch.com OR see her at the Mission Desk on Sunday August 21st before or after service. Items/checks may also be dropped off at the Mission Desk in the designated FP box behind the desk, or church office.

We are so thankful for the many volunteers and supporters of this critical ministry. Your efforts have made a tremendous difference in the lives of our neighbors.
