Family Promise of Butler County is an affiliate of Family Promise, Inc. which has been providing overnight lodging to children and families who are homeless throughout our nation since 1988. There are currently more than 200 affiliates in a majority of the United States. Family Promise of Butler County began serving families on September 11, 2016. It joins Warren County Interfaith Hospitality Network and the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cincinnati to address family homelessness in southwestern Ohio.
Crestview was honored to be asked by Family Promise of Butler County to film their new video promo (above) at Crestview Church in October, 2019. Crestview is blessed to be a host congregation who offers hospitality to children and families who are without a home four weeks per year.
In Butler County, the estimated number of children who are homeless has risen to 2000. As a faith community, we want to respond to this need. For further information or to contribute your time, talent or treasure, go to the Family Promise website. There are many ways that you can help these families in crisis including being a host volunteer, donating supplies for the Day Center, volunteering at the Day Center, and financial support. To find out how you can help, contact Sue Mahlock.
Family Promise Volunteer Opportunities and Needs for 2020
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you….” Philippians 1:3
Warm thanks to all who shared their gifts of time, treasure and talent with our Family Promise guests this year. We thank God for each one of you! By working together, we are able to serve our neighbors as the body of Christ and sustain this important local ministry.
We have been blessed to be supporting our neighbors without homes for over 20 years through the Family Promise (AKA Interfaith Hospitality Network) Program. In March and May, due to Covid, we supported a young pregnant mom, Simone, and one year old daughter, Samantha, and put them up in a motel. We were thrilled to assist with baby items, furniture, toys and clothes for the new baby, Nala (pictured), and family as they moved into their new home May 28! Thank you SO MUCH to all who donated items, delivered and put together furniture for Simone, especially our Women’s Connect Group. The family is so appreciative of your love and kindness.
Our Next Host Week…
Crestview will make their Education Wing into a home for one or two families who are struggling. If you have been wondering how you can share your time and talent to help others, please consider volunteering as a meal provider, meal host, evening or overnight host. There are still many shifts available. Due to Covid, masks and gloves will be required and only adult volunteers requested. See Sue before or after services July 19th outside main entrance to sign up. CLICK HERE for the current volunteer shifts available or contact Sue Mahlock for more information.
Have you served with Family Promise host week and really felt called to do even more?
We are in need of an Assistant Site Coordinator (1 or 2 needed) – to provide assistance in recruiting volunteers, covering supervisor shifts during host week as necessary, assist with organizing supplies and providing general back up support to our site coordinator. Email communication is important for this position.
Please contact Sue Mahlock , site coordinator, if you have interest in any of these positions.
Supply Needs for 2020
We are currently filled up on supplies. We will send out a SignUp Genius through email for future needs. Although, we can always use more new or gently used Beanie babies for our children guests as well as bingo prizes for both adults and children.
To be added to the FP volunteer/donor email distribution list, send your request to Sue Mahlock.
Any donations may be left behind the Mission desk and put into the carton marked Family Promise.
Family Promise Guests Celebrate New Year at Crestview
Crestview Deacons and volunteers from our church and supporting churches rang in the New Year week with a wonderful buffet, games, movies and love! See the pictures below of some of our volunteers and the two families we provided hospitality for. Keep both families in your prayers for a home of their own soon!
Here is a note from one of Crestview’s volunteers about that evening.
