I Samuel 25

Thoughts:  Godly self-mastery of the passions not only represents the highest beauty and conquest, but the truest preparation for service.  It means Godlikeness of character, for God Himself is “slow to anger.”  These words express, very feebly, the fact that He is unchanging in moral character, subject to no impulsive and sudden outbreaks of passion-eternally calm, while yet eternally angry with sin.

Prayer:  Lord, you have called us to overcome evil with good and to pray for our enemies.  I ask, Lord, that you have pity on my enemies, just as you have pity on me.  Lead them, together with me, into your heavenly kingdom.
