Exodus 12:1-30

Why did the Hebrews sacrifice a lamb?  The significance of the sacrifice was that innocent blood was shed.  For the Israelites to be spared from the plague of death, a lamb with no defects had to be killed and its blood placed on the doorframes of each home.  The lamb was a sacrifice, a substitute for the person who was supposed to die.  From this point on, the Hebrew people would have a clear understanding that being spared from death meant that another life had to be sacrificed in their place…
