Jonah 4

(a prayer) Compassionate, Lord, you are slow to anger.  I, like Jonah, can be quick to judge.  You are not willing that anyone should be lost.  I am not always willing that certain people might be saved.  You do not hate the world.  You so loved the world that you gave your Son to save it.  Now please save it from my hateful prejudice.  Who am I to decide who should stand or who should fall before you?  Father, forgive me for my judgmental self-righteousness.  Remove from me my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh.  Help me to extend the hand of mercy so that I might receive mercy.  Help me to speak words of forgiveness so that I might be forgiven.  Help me to rejoice with the angels over one sinner who repents!
