Family Promise started as a local response to a problem in Union County, New Jersey, and thirty years later, they are a national movement involving more than 200,000 volunteers. 2020 saw more than 177,000 people served struggling with homelessness. Local churches partner with Family Promise to help serve these neighbors physically as well as spiritually. It’s a truly community-based response to help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence, together.
At Crestview, we partner with Family Promise of Butler County to provide a safe and welcoming place for families experiencing housing insecurity. During their stay, our Education Wing becomes a temporary home where children and parents can rest and regroup.
In the evenings, families return for supper and a place to land for the night, and in the mornings, breakfast is available before they head out for work, school, or the Family Promise Day Center. Volunteers help make this possible in simple, meaningful ways like preparing meals, showing hospitality, and being present. This ministry is about showing up for families when it matters, and it is one way our church puts love into action. Whether you can help once or more often, there is room for you to be part of this work.
