Shawn Barkley

Sr. Pastor

Although a native Virginian, Rev. Shawn Barkley spent most of his formative years in Richmond, Kentucky. After graduating Cum Laude from Western Kentucky University in Pre-Law, Shawn sensed that God was calling him into full time ministry, rather than a law career.  Since earning his Masters in Divinity at Columbia Seminary, Shawn has served congregations in North Carolina and Kentucky, before becoming Crestview’s Sr. Pastor in 2016.

Shawn believes Jesus is the hope of the world. In his words… “I have a deep sense of gratitude to God for the love and grace he’s given to me in Jesus Christ. I’ve made a life long commitment to share his Word and see as many people as possible enjoy a vibrant relationship with Him, as their personal Savior and Lord.”

Shawn’s primary responsibilities at Crestview include preaching, teaching, Session and staff leadership and visioning. His passion is to see individuals grow in their love of, and devotion to Jesus Christ; developing and then using their spiritual gifts to do God’s kingdom work. In the years Shawn has served Crestview the congregation has grown in size, but more importantly, in commitment to mission and to the study of God’s Word. While his primary responsibility is to Crestview, Shawn also consults with other congregations and pastors to help define their mission and develop leadership gifts and strategies for fulfilling that mission. He presented at the National PCUSA Evangelism and Church Growth Conference, teaching and encouraging leaders in the areas of church vitality and growth.

Interests include grilling, reading non-fiction, golf, Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football, hiking and truthfully all things sports.  He is married to Amy Jo who enjoys giving her time to the ministry of Crestview and has a son (Davis) who lives nearby and works for Sherwin Williams.
